Speaker Spotlight: Jasmine Mah, ACEEE

Rotary Stories

Last week, we had the opportunity to hear from Jasmine Mah, Senior Research Analyst with the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE), who shared practical insights on how to save energy, reduce costs, and create healthier homes.

Jasmine explained energy efficiency as “doing more with less,” highlighting simple upgrades like LED lighting that can significantly cut energy use. She also introduced building electrification — replacing gas-powered systems with efficient electric alternatives such as heat pumps and induction stoves — which can improve indoor air quality while lowering environmental impact.

One of her key messages: the best time to make energy upgrades is during home renovations, when improvements can be made more efficiently and cost-effectively. She also shared helpful programs, rebates, and resources available to support both homeowners and businesses in making these changes.

It was an informative and practical presentation, reminding us that small changes at home can lead to meaningful impact for both our community and the environment.
